1. CHOOSING PANORAMAX
1. What makes the PANORAMAX Sauna different from an ordinary garden sauna?
PANORAMAX is not simply a timber cabin with a heater placed inside.
It combines:
· a precision-engineered LOCX aluminium structure;
· specialist sauna-grade insulation from Finland;
· panoramic Low-E double glazing;
· carefully selected Grade A sauna timber;
· low-maintenance architectural exterior cladding;
· specialist heating, lighting and ventilation; and

2. Where is the PANORAMAX Sauna made?
PANORAMAX is British-designed, engineered and assembled by LOCX System Limited.
The recycled-aluminium frame is extruded in the UK. Its connectors and structural components are precision-cut and fabricated in Britain, and the completed sauna is assembled here in the UK.
Fixings, fasteners and other components are sourced through UK suppliers where practical. Specialist international materials are selected where they provide the best proven performance for a sauna environment.

3. What is included in the standard PANORAMAX Sauna price?
The standard specification includes:
· Grade A Alder or Aspen interior timber;
· 15mm internal wall and ceiling timber;
· 28mm timber flooring;
· two-tone, 30mm ribbed exterior cladding in black and grey or teak;
· aluminium fire-retardant composite roof panels;
· a panoramic Low-E, argon-filled double-glazed window measuring approximately 180 × 185cm;
· 50mm specialist FF-PIR Sauna insulation from Finland;
· a 6.8kW Harvia electric heater;
· two-tier seating for approximately six people;
· an extra-wide 100 × 220cm lower bench or relaxation platform;
· high-temperature, dimmable internal lighting;
· ventilation; and
· assembly of the finished sauna.
Available upgrades currently include:
· Thermal Alder or Thermal Aspen interior timber;

4. What is not included in the standard price?
Unless specifically included in your quotation, the following are charged separately:
· delivery;
· crane, HIAB or specialist lifting;
· electrical connection;
· preparation of the base or foundations;
· site-specific installation; and
· work required because of restricted or unusual access.
We assess the site and access arrangements before confirming the final quotation.
5. What does the PANORAMAX Sauna cost?
The standard PANORAMAX Sauna is:
· £24,000 including VAT
Delivery and any site-specific lifting or installation requirements are quoted separately.
The final price may change if you select upgraded timber, a different heater, bespoke cladding, alternative glazing or other optional features. Everything will be clearly itemised before you place an order.
6. Can I view a completed PANORAMAX Sauna before ordering?
Yes, subject to availability and prior arrangement.
Prospective customers can arrange to view a completed PANORAMAX Sauna or book a detailed video presentation.
During the viewing, we can explain:

7. How can I judge the build quality before ordering?
We believe customers should understand what they are buying.
The quality story does not stop at attractive photographs. You can ask to see:
· videos of the completed sauna inside and out;
· photographs of the LOCX aluminium frame;
· structural connection details;
· insulation information;
· glazing specifications;
· timber and cladding samples;
· heater information; and
· the written product specification.
We are happy to explain what sits behind the timber, glass and cladding, because that is where much of the difference lies.
8. What warranty will I receive?
The current warranty structure is:
LOCX aluminium profiles and connectors
· Domestic use: 10 years
· Commercial use: 2 years
Harvia heater
· Domestic use: 2 years
· Commercial use: 6 months
The Harvia warranty is passed directly to the customer and excludes the heating element where stated in the manufacturer’s terms.
Other sauna components currently carry a limited one-year warranty, subject to the exclusions set out in the written warranty schedule. Glass, lighting, misuse, unauthorised alterations and incorrect installation may be treated separately.
The full warranty terms will be supplied with your quotation and contract.
9. What after-sales support is available?
Our involvement does not end when the sauna is delivered.
Customers receive handover information covering:
· operation;
· ventilation;
· timber care;
· cleaning;
· heater maintenance;
· safe use; and
· recommended inspections.
If support is required, LOCX will help identify whether the issue relates to the structure, heater, electrical supply, glazing, finish or installation.
2. THE LOCX ALUMINIUM STRUCTURE
10. Why does PANORAMAX use an aluminium frame?
Many traditional garden saunas rely on timber for both the principal structure and the visible finish.
PANORAMAX separates these functions. The LOCX aluminium frame provides the engineered structure, while timber is used inside the sauna where warmth, comfort and appearance matter most.
The aluminium structure:
· does not rot;
· is not vulnerable to insect attack;
· does not shrink, twist and expand in the same way as structural timber;
· provides greater dimensional stability;
· supports accurate, repeatable assembly;
· accepts different interior and exterior finishes; and
· is mechanically assembled without welding the main structure.
This creates a controlled, durable and adaptable platform beneath the finished sauna.
11. Will an aluminium frame make the sauna feel cold or industrial?
No.
The aluminium structure sits behind the specialist insulation and finished internal timber. Inside the sauna, you experience natural wood, warm lighting, sauna stones and panoramic views.
The frame is the hidden engineering that supports the product. It does not change the warm and calming atmosphere inside.
12. Is PANORAMAX a mass-produced imported sauna?
No. PANORAMAX is developed around the LOCX structural system and assembled in Britain to a defined specification.
It is positioned as a premium finished product rather than a lightweight entry-level kit.
Customers can discuss:

13. Why does PANORAMAX cost more than a basic sauna?
A cheaper sauna may provide only a lightweight timber shell, use a more basic insulation or glazing specification, require extensive customer assembly or exclude important equipment and installation costs.
The PANORAMAX price reflects:
· the British-engineered LOCX aluminium frame;
· specialist Finnish sauna insulation;
· panoramic Low-E double glazing;
· selected Grade A sauna timber;
· architectural exterior cladding;

3. PERFORMANCE AND MATERIALS
14. What insulation is used?
PANORAMAX uses specialist 50mm FF-PIR Sauna insulation manufactured in Finland for high-temperature and high-humidity sauna environments.
The panels are fitted within the LOCX frame and sealed with aluminium tape to create the thermal and vapour-control layer.
The supplier’s stated specification includes:
· M1 indoor emissions classification;
· CE marking to EN 13165;
· declared thermal conductivity of 0.022 W/mK;
· working temperatures from approximately -50°C to +120°C; and
· temporary resistance to higher temperatures under stated conditions.
Not all ordinary building insulation is suitable for sauna use. PANORAMAX therefore uses a product developed specifically for this environment.
15. Does the panoramic window cause excessive heat loss?
The panoramic window is not ordinary glazing.
The current specification uses a toughened, argon-filled Low-E double-glazed unit designed to reduce heat transfer and reflect heat back into the sauna more effectively than standard glass.
The working U-value is approximately 1.2 W/m²K, subject to confirmation for the final installed unit.
16. Why have such a large window?
The panoramic glazing changes the whole sauna experience.
Instead of feeling enclosed inside a small timber box, you can enjoy views of your garden, woodland, pool, coastline or hotel surroundings.
For private customers, it creates a more open and luxurious garden retreat.
For hotels and leisure operators, it creates a memorable guest experience and a highly photographable wellness feature.
17. What interior timber can I choose?
The standard and upgrade options include:
Aspen
Pale, odour-neutral and comfortable to touch at sauna temperatures.
Thermal Aspen
A deeper honey tone with enhanced stability and moisture resistance.
Alder
A warm, rich timber with red and golden tones and excellent suitability for sauna interiors.
Thermal Alder
A darker chocolate-toned finish with increased stability and a premium appearance.
Abachi, also known as Obeche
A low-thermal-conductivity timber available as an upgrade for seating, backrests and contact areas.
All internal timber is selected for sauna use, controlled moisture, low resin content and a smooth tactile finish.
18. Will the benches become too hot to sit on?
The seating and contact materials are chosen with sauna comfort in mind.
Low-thermal-conductivity timber such as Abachi can be used for seating and backrests, helping those surfaces remain more comfortable at sauna temperatures.
We recommend using a towel on the benches and following the supplied operating guidance.
19. What heater or stove does the sauna use?
The standard specification uses a 6.8kW Harvia electric pillar heater. Its tall, compact design provides a strong stone presence without taking up excessive floor space.
A 9kW Harvia electric heater is available as an upgrade where suitable.
A Harvia 20 Professional wood-burning stove may also be considered for suitable sites, subject to:
· flue requirements;
· fire clearances;
· access;
· installation conditions; and
· any applicable planning or regulatory requirements.
The final heater and electrical specification is confirmed before ordering.
20. How is airflow controlled?
The sauna uses a designed ventilation arrangement incorporating three adjustable pop-up vents.
Correct ventilation helps the sauna:
· warm evenly;
· remain comfortable;
· manage heat and moisture; and
· provide a better overall bathing experience.
21. How quickly does the sauna heat up?
Heat-up time depends on the outside temperature, starting temperature, ventilation, heater selection and how often the door is opened.
Our current indicative times, beginning at an ambient temperature of around 20°C, are:
· 60°C: approximately 20–30 minutes;
· 70°C: approximately 30–40 minutes;
· 80°C: approximately 40–50 minutes; and
· 90°C: approximately 50–60 minutes.
These are indicative rather than guaranteed figures. Actual performance will vary with conditions and use.
22. How much does the sauna cost to run?
Running cost depends on your electricity tariff, chosen temperature, heat-up time and length of use.
Using a 6.8kW heater and an example electricity rate of 26.11p per kWh, an indicative session may cost approximately:
· heat-up to around 70°C: £1.00;
· one hour of sauna use: £0.90;
· total session after warm-up: approximately £1.90.
Electricity tariffs change, so these figures should be treated as an example only.
23. Can the PANORAMAX Sauna be used throughout the year?
Yes. PANORAMAX is designed as an outdoor sauna for year-round use, subject to correct installation, maintenance and operation.
Its specialist insulation, Low-E glazing, external cladding and weather-resistant structure are designed to provide a controlled sauna environment through changing seasons.
Access, drainage, electrical components and the surrounding area must also be kept safe during wet, icy or severe weather.
The sauna must be used in accordance with the supplied product and heater guidance.
Important considerations include:

The window glass and surrounding components can become hot. Cold water must not be poured onto hot glazing, as sudden thermal shock may damage or shatter the glass.
Is the sauna suitable for families?
4. Durability and maintenance
Does the exterior need painting every year?
No. The standard ribbed exterior is designed to be low maintenance.
Unlike exposed timber cladding, it does not require regular sanding, painting or staining. Routine care is generally limited to occasional cleaning with soap and water.
The standard two-tone options include combinations of:

grey; and
-
teak woodgrain.
Bespoke cladding and alternative architectural finishes can also be quoted.
26. Is the exterior real timber?
The standard external finish is a low-maintenance ribbed architectural cladding rather than exposed structural timber.
The WPS cladding is made using recycled materials and is designed to resist weather, UV exposure, rot and insects.
Natural timber can be specified for customers who prefer that appearance, but it will have different maintenance requirements.
27. How long should the sauna last?
The service life depends on installation, site conditions, ventilation, maintenance, cleaning and correct use.
A major advantage is that the principal LOCX structure is aluminium and stainless steel rather than untreated structural timber. It does not rot and is designed for a long service life when properly installed and maintained.
The contractual protection for the aluminium profiles and connectors is currently a ten-year domestic structural warranty.
28. What maintenance does the interior require?
The internal timber should be:
· allowed to dry and ventilate after use;
· kept clean;
· protected from unsuitable household chemicals;
· used with towels on benches where recommended; and
· maintained in accordance with the care guidance.
The heater and electrical components should be maintained in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
29. What happens if a component needs replacing?
PANORAMAX is assembled from identifiable structural and finishing components rather than being treated as one disposable unit.
Where appropriate, parts such as:
· heater components;
· lighting;
· controls;
· cladding sections;
· internal timber;
· seals; and
· powder-coated components
can be inspected, maintained or replaced without replacing the entire sauna.
Availability will depend on the component and the relevant manufacturer.
30. Can the interior or exterior be refreshed later?
Potentially, yes.
The principal structure and finished surfaces perform different roles. This means selected internal timber, external cladding, lighting or equipment may be refreshed or replaced while retaining the main aluminium structure.
The feasibility and cost will depend on the chosen materials and the condition of the sauna.
31. What is the environmental advantage of the LOCX approach?
PANORAMAX uses a recycled-aluminium structural system extruded in the UK.
Its mechanical construction allows individual components and finishes to be assembled, maintained and potentially replaced rather than treating the whole sauna as disposable.
Components are sourced through UK suppliers where practical, while specialist international materials are chosen where they provide the most suitable performance.
The structure is also designed with future relocation in mind, helping the product remain useful if the site or ownership requirements change.
5. SIZE, SITE AND INSTALLATION
32. How many people can use the PANORAMAX Sauna?
The current PANORAMAX Sauna is designed for approximately six people.
The standard working dimensions are:
· external footprint: approximately 2000 × 2380mm;
· internal sauna room: approximately 1800 × 2180mm.
The interior includes two levels of seating, including a wide lower bench suitable for sitting or reclining.
Larger models and alternative layouts may be available by quotation.
33. Does the sauna arrive assembled?
Yes, where site access permits, the standard approach is to deliver the sauna fully assembled.
This reduces work at the customer’s property and helps maintain consistent controlled assembly quality.
Access and lifting requirements are assessed before delivery.
34. What happens if access to my garden is difficult?
Restricted access does not automatically make installation impossible.
Depending on the site, delivery may involve:
· direct placement using suitable handling equipment;
· specialist transport or forklift placement;
· HIAB or crane delivery;
· lifting over a wall, house or other obstruction; or
· dismantling the sauna into sections and rebuilding it on site.
Customers should provide photographs, videos and access measurements during the quotation process. A site visit may be required for more complicated locations.
Reassembly on site will normally require additional labour and may take one or two days, depending on access, location and complexity.
35. What base does the sauna require?
The completed sauna weighs approximately 900kg and requires a suitable level base.
Depending on the site, this may include:
· a properly designed reinforced deck;
· a concrete pad;
· a platform supported by screw piles; or
· another approved foundation arrangement.
The working floor area is approximately 2400 × 2000mm.
Any base must be designed and prepared for the actual site conditions and completed before delivery unless separately included in the quotation.
36. What electrical supply is required?
The standard 6.8kW electric heater requires a suitable dedicated electrical supply.
The working residential requirement is approximately:
· 32A single-phase supply;
· 230–240V.
Commercial or three-phase requirements depend on the chosen heater and electrical design.
All electrical work must be completed and certified by a suitably qualified electrician. Electrical connection is not included unless expressly stated in the quotation.
The final electrical requirement must be confirmed before installation.
37. How long does installation take?
Where the sauna is delivered fully assembled and the site is ready, placement and final installation can normally be completed quickly.
A typical installation may take one to two days, depending on
· access;
· lifting requirements;
· the prepared base;
· electrical work;
· the number of installers; and
· the location of the site.
38. Can the sauna be moved later?
Yes. The structure includes integrated lifting points intended to support future relocation.
Any move must be:
· properly planned;
· undertaken by competent people;
· carried out using suitable lifting equipment; and
· completed in accordance with the supplied lifting guidance.
This may benefit customers who move home, redesign their garden or need to reposition a commercial wellness facility.
39. Do I need planning permission?
Some outdoor saunas may fall within permitted-development rights in England, depending on their size, height, location, proximity to boundaries and intended use.
Different rules or restrictions may apply to:

· sites outside England.
LOCX can provide the sauna dimensions and product information, but the customer remains responsible for confirming the planning and building-control requirements for the individual property.
40. What happens if my site is not ready on the delivery date?
The base, access route and required electrical preparation must be ready before delivery.
If the site is not ready, delivery may have to be rearranged and additional transport, storage, lifting or labour charges may arise.
A pre-delivery checklist will be used to confirm readiness before the sauna is dispatched.
41. Will I receive instructions and a formal handover?
Yes. The customer will receive a handover pack containing, where applicable:
· the final specification;
· operating instructions;
· heater information;
· electrical information;
· ventilation guidance;
· timber-care instructions;
· cleaning guidance;
· lifting restrictions;
· warranty information; and
· after-sales contact details.
6. ORDERING AND CUSTOMISATION
42. Can I customise my sauna?

44. What happens after I request a quotation?
The process is straightforward:
1. Tell us where you want to place the sauna and how it will be used.
2. Send photographs, measurements and access information.
3. Select your preferred timber, exterior finish and equipment.
4. Discuss the base, delivery, lifting and electrical requirements.
5. Receive a written specification and quotation.
6. Confirm the order and proposed production schedule.
7. Pay the agreed deposit.
8. Complete the required site preparation.
9. Agree the delivery and installation date.
10. Pay the final balance in accordance with the contract.
11. Receive delivery, installation and formal handover.
45. What are the payment terms?
The current standard payment structure is:
· 80% deposit when the order and specification are confirmed;
· 20% final balance before delivery.

No. The PANORAMAX Sauna may be suitable for:

No. PANORAMAX is intended as a wider family of panoramic spaces built around the LOCX structural system.
The PANORAMAX Sauna is the first completed product.
Future products may include:

53. When will the PANORAMAX Pod be available?
The PANORAMAX Pod is currently in development, with launch planned for the future.
